OPERATING
INSTRUCTIONS
This styler is intended for household use. Use on
Alternating Current (60 hertz) only. This unit is
designed to be operated at 120V AC.
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is
wider than the other). As a safety feature, this
plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If
the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse
the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified
electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety
feature.
NOTE: Do not use this styling appliance on
hair extensions.
AUTO-MONITORING FUNCTION
ALCI WITH LED INDICATOR
CHECK ALCI SAFETY FEATURE EVERY TIME
YOU USE APPLIANCE. WHEN THE LED LIGHT
IS FLASHING, THIS INDICATES THE ALCI IS
NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. IF THIS IS THE
CASE, STOP USING AND RETURN APPLIANCE
TO SERVICE CENTER.
This appliance is equipped with an auto-
monitoring function Appliance Leakage Circuit
Interrupter (ALCI), a safety feature that renders
it inoperable under some abnormal conditions,
such as immersion in water. To make sure
the ALCI is functioning properly, perform the
following test. The purpose of this test is to
allow you to make sure the water sensing
system (ALCI) is working.
1. Plug in the
appliance and press
test button on plug
(see diagram).
2. The appliance will
stop working. There
will be an audible
click, reset button will
pop out and the LED light is off. This indicates
the ALCI is functioning properly.
3. To reset ALCI with a reset button (see
diagram), unit should be unplugged. Then push
reset button in and reinsert plug into outlet.
4. If ALCI is not functioning properly and
LED light is flashing, stop using immediately
and return appliance to service center. If the
appliance stops working and the LED light on
the ALCI is flashing, return appliance to service
center.
5. It is important that if immersion occurs, this
unit be brought to a service center. Do not try
to reset.
6. Be sure to repeat test every time you use the
unit to confirm ALCI is operational.
Should the appliance go off and the reset
button pop up during use, this could indicate a
malfunction in the unit. Remove plug from outlet
and allow the appliance to cool. Reinsert plug
into outlet. The appliance should then function
normally. If not, return it to an authorized Conair
Service Center for evaluation and repair.
Conair’s professional salon standards of
engineering provide you with a uniform and
improved heat recovery system that maintains
the iron at constant temperatures. There is a
constant supply of power to ensure that heat is
continuously and quickly delivered for optimal
styling results, unlike other units, which lose
heat during use. This provides consistent styling
power so that every strand of your hair is set
with the same level of heat and comes out the
same way for a perfect finish.
Never leave your styler on and unattended.
However, should you fail to turn the iron off,
it will shut itself off automatically within
60 minutes.
STYLING WITH THE
QUARTZ CERAMIC-COATED,
EASY-GLIDE PLATES & BARREL
Your new styler has a quartz ceramic-coated,
easy-glide surface. This means it’s not only
simpler to clean off styling product residue, etc.,
after each use, but you’ll find that hair glides
easily over the surface of the plates as you’re
styling. The ceramic surface also helps smooth
down flyaways. It evenly distributes heat so that
the style you create has a salon-perfect, silky
smooth, shiny finish.
UNIQUE AIRFLOW SYSTEM
This styling iron features a unique cooling
system for the outer barrel. A fan releases cool
air along the outside of the barrel to help set
your style and creates long-lasting curls.
USING INSTANT HEAT, THE 3
HEAT SETTINGS & UNIFORM
HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM
This styling iron features a heater that
maintains constant temperature during use
for precision styling.
The Instant Heat technology has 3 heat settings.
There is a temperature range that’s gentle and
safe for every type of hair, from the finest to the
most resistant, and helps you create the look
you want.
If you have fine hair, a low temperature will
provide the best results. If you have thick, wavy
or hard-to-style hair, keep the heat setting on
high. Always test a small section of hair to
ensure the proper heat setting for your hair.
You can vary the iron’s temperature according
to your particular need!

TO CURL HAIR
Hair should be clean and completely dry before
using the styler. Ensure hair is dry and combed
through.
1. Separate a section of hair. The smaller the
section, the more defined the curl. The larger the
section, the looser the curl or wave.
2. Press and hold the Open/
Close button to open plates.
Take a section of hair and
place it between the plates,
roughly 2 inches from the
roots. (See Fig. 1.) Release
the plates by letting go
of the Open/Close button.
3. Turn the styler 180° back
on itself, so that the hair is
wrapped once around the
outside of the styler (Fig. 2).
Cool tips provide a safe,
heat-resistant place to hold
the styler while you curl.
4. Slowly glide the styler
along the length of hair
from roots to ends in a
downward motion (Fig. 3).
5. Release the hair from the
styler. The cool air channels set the style.
6. Repeat for each section of hair.

GROUND
FAULT
CIRCUIT
INTERRUPTERS
...can save a life!
IF YOU MUST USE YOUR STYLER IN THE
BATHROOM, INSTALL A GFCI* NOW!
Your local electrician can help you decide
which type is best for you – a portable unit that
plugs into the electrical outlet or a permanent
unit installed by your electrician. The National
Electrical Code now requires GFCIs in the
bathrooms, garages, and outdoor outlets of all
new homes.
WHY DO YOU NEED A GFCI?
Electricity and water don’t mix.
If your styler falls into water while
its plugged in, the electric shock
can kill you...even if the switch
is off. A regular fuse or circuit breaker won’t
protect you under these circumstances.
A GFCI offers you far greater protection.
A GFCI can save your life! Compared to
that, the price is small! Don’t wait...install
one now!
* A GFCI is a sensitive device that reacts
immediately to a small electric current leak
by stopping the electricity flow.
