WARNING
When using the product, the safety rules must be
followed. For your own safety and that of bystanders,
please read these instructions before operating the
product. Please keep the instructions safe for later use.
GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS
Ŷ Some regions have regulations that restrict the use of
the product to some operations. Check with your local
authority for advice.
Ŷ Do not allow children or untrained individuals to use this
product.
Ŷ Never start or run the engine in a closed or poorly
ventilated area; breathing exhaust fumes can kill.
Ŷ Clear the work area before each use. Remove all
objects such as rocks, broken glass, nails, wire, or
string which can be thrown or become entangled in the
head attachment.
Ŷ Wear eye and hearing protection when operating this
product.
Ŷ Wear heavy long trousers, boots and gloves. Do not
wear loose fitting clothing, shorts, jewelry of any kind,
or go barefoot.
Ŷ Secure long hair so it is above shoulder level to prevent
entanglement in any moving parts.
Ŷ Keep all bystanders (especially children and pets) at
least 15 m away from the work area.
Ŷ Do not operate the product when you are tired, ill, or
under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication.
Ŷ Do not operate in poor lighting.
Ŷ Keep firm footing and balance. Do not overreach.
Overreaching can result in loss of balance or exposure
to hot surfaces.
Ŷ Keep all parts of your body away from any moving part.
Ŷ Do not touch area around the exhaust, silencer or
engine of the product; these parts get hot during
operation.
Ŷ Always stop the engine and remove the spark plug wire
before refuelling, cleaning, maintenance or storage
except for carburetor adjustments.
Ŷ Inspect the product before each use for loose fasteners,
fuel leaks, etc.
Replace any damaged parts before use.
Ŷ Do not smoke when mixing fuel or filling fuel tank.
Ŷ Mix and store fuel in a container approved for fuel.
Ŷ Mix fuel outdoors where there are no sparks or flames.
Wipe up any fuel spillage. Move 10 m away from
refuelling site before starting engine.
Ŷ Stop the engine and allow to cool before refuelling or
storing the product.
Ŷ Operating similar tools nearby increases risk of injury.
Ŷ Use of hearing protection reduces the ability to hear
warnings (shouts or alarms). The operator must pay
extra attention to what is going on in the work area.
Ŷ If working in an area where there is a risk of falling
objects, head protection must be worn.
Ŷ Do not operate the product on the user’s left side.
Ŷ Keep the product well maintained, fasteners tightened
and worn parts replaced.
Ŷ Allow the engine to cool; empty the fuel tank and/or
oil tank and secure the product from moving before
transporting in a vehicle.
WARNING
Injuries may be caused, or aggravated, by prolonged
use of a tool. When using any tool for prolonged
periods, ensure you take regular breaks.
LINE TRIMMER SAFETY WARNINGS
Ŷ Replace the head attachment if cracked, chipped, or
damaged in anyway. Make sure the head attachment is
properly installed and securely fastened. Failure to do
so can cause serious injury.
Ŷ Use only the manufacturer’s replacement line in the
cutting head. Do not use any other cutting attachment.
Ŷ Maintain a firm grip on both handles while using the
product. Keep the head attachment below waist level.
Never use the product with the cutting head positioned
76 cm or more above ground level.
Ŷ Always use the harness when the product is provided
and adjust to a comfortable operating position.
Ŷ Make sure all guards, straps, deflectors and handles
are properly and securely attached to avoid the risk of
personal injury.
Ŷ Never operate the product without the safety guard in
place and in good condition.
Ŷ It has been reported that vibrations from hand-held
tools may contribute to a condition called Raynaud’s
Syndrome in certain individuals. Symptoms may
include tingling, numbness and blanching of the fingers,
usually apparent upon exposure to cold. Hereditary
factors, exposure to cold and dampness, diet, smoking
and work practices are all thought to contribute to
the development of these symptoms. It is presently
unknown what, if any, vibrations or extent of exposure
may contribute to the condition.
Ŷ There are measures that can be taken by the operator
to possibly reduce the effects of vibration:
